Packing is the most time consuming part of moving. That is why you have to be prepared for it. One of the most important things you will need during your move is moving boxes. While you will also need other packing materials like bubble wraps, packing foams, tapes and markers, special attention has to be given in choosing the type of boxes for each type of items.
 
Cardboard boxes are generally sufficient to carry your things during the move. They are preferred by most people because they are cheaper than plastic and other reusable containers. You can even get secondhand moving boxes to save money. In order to keep your things safe, just make sure that you provide enough cushions for your things so they will not get damaged even in cases of minor bumps.
 
Plastic containers can also be used during the move. This is a more expensive choice but since plastic containers can be used for other purposes or as temporary storage, you will have more uses for it. Of course, if you'd like to discard all moving boxes after the move you would still prefer cardboard boxes.
 
As for clothes, suitcases can carry them to your new home. As long as, they are still durable your clothes will be safe in it. If your suitcase is canvas you would have to cover it with plastic to be sure your clothes will remain dry during wet season or in case of spills. The important thing is you use containers that will carry your things safely. This is always your concern during your move. While you should not automatically buy boxes, you should when you have to if you want to have your things intact and safe.
