Keep Your Move Organized

When you come to plan for a move, there are many different things that you’re going to have to try and wrap your head around throughout the entire process. Obviously a lot of what you’re going to have to spend your time on will have little to nothing to do with the actual act of moving your belongings between homes. You’ll have to handle contracts, viewings, the search for a new house or flat, cleaning, updating your address information with the bank, and a lot of other things along those lines which are probably going to keep you just about as busy as you can handle being at any given moment. But when it comes down to it, moving your belongings is an unavoidable step of this process, and you’re going to have to bite the bullet and make a plan for it sooner or later. There are a huge variety of different removals services which you can pay for in order to speed along the process and simplify your job. You can go for man and van hire, you can hire a removals truck, or – if you’re moving overseas – you can (in fact, you’ll have to) arrange for all your belongings to be loaded into an enormous shipping container. For most of us, most of the time, keeping organized and having a structure for our packing and removals can become a massive problem. It sometimes ends up being the case that the whole process gets ahead of us and we end up with a bunch of boxes scattered around our home and no solid plan for how we’re going to get them all to where they need to be.So here are a couple of tips that you can use in order to plan properly and get on top of things when it comes time to move your belongings: Label: Whether we realize it or not, we almost all have an enormous amount of stuff lying around our houses or apartments, just waiting to rear its head and be discovered when we start trying to organize and pack it away for the move. If you find that you feel a bit of uneasy about how much you own in general, then you’re likely in for a shock when you start packing. You should always assume that in reality you’re going to end up having to fill twice as many boxes as you originally thought. For this reason, it’s essential to properly organize what goes into which box, and also to label everything clearly and correctly. When you get to your new home you’re going to want to settle in fast. You may want to sit back on your sofa and read that one book that you’ve been meaning to make a start on. But if you haven’t clearly labelled a box “My Books”, then the odds are that you’ll go weeks or even months before finding which pile of things that book is at the bottom of. Plan the Layout In Advance: One of the best things about moving to a new home is the fact that we can get really creative and decorate the place according to all of our favourite “ideal home” fantasies. We can really make it into our personal palace, and move on from the mess that we had gotten used to in our old home. This is why it’s important to actually survey your new home before moving into it, and make a plan about which things will go into which room. It’s even better if you can label each box with the name of the room it’s meant to be unpacked in. If you don’t do this kind of planning in advance, then you’re going to find that things will just “end up where they end up” as you eventually manage to unpack them in no particular order.
